7000 SERIES FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Call 0203 0111066 or email info@woodwooddoorcontrols.co.uk for price and availability.

1 – How do you operate the 7000 series hold the door stay?

To hold the door open – Push the door to the open position, as the door reaches the stop firmly push it a degree or two more to overcome the roller catch.

To release the door – At the leading edge of the door pull firmly the door to release the roller catch of the stay.

2 – How does the 7000 series work?

The 7000 series door stay works by a roller catch engaging with a stop block mounted on the Jamb bracket as the door is opened to the stop position.

3 – Can the holding force of the 7000 series be increased?

Yes, the hold open tension can be increased by tightening the nut on the end of the stay which compresses the spring. This will also increase how firmly the door has to be pushed when setting the door to hold open and releasing it.

3 – Does the door stay slow the movement of the door during opening?
No, the 7000 series is not a friction stay it is designed to hold the door open or stop it in the open position. It will cushion the last few degrees of opening.

4 – When / why would I install a 7000 series stay?

The 7000 series stay is ideally suited to applications where there is nowhere to install a door stop or other hold open device, for example an outward opening warehouse door or garage door.

5 Why do I need a door stop?

Door stops prevent doors from being pushed too far open which can cause damage to the door & frame, hinges, wall or pedestrians.

6 – What alternatives are there to the 7000 series door stay if I require the door to have controlled opening and also be self-closing?

The 7000 series can be installed to operate with an LCN® 4040XP installed with a Regular arm and auxiliary shoe, this can be seen in the image below. This gives the benefit of a heavy duty door closer and heavy duty door stay working together.

The LCN® 4040XP-HCUSH closer has a built-in stop and hold-open function (hold open function is engaged and disengaged using a handle on the closer arm).

Alternatively, the LCN® 4040XP-CUSH closer is available for those specifically in need of a door closer with an integrated stop without hold open.
